Dialectical Behavioral Theory Class
For High School Aged Teens
What is a DBT class?
DBT is a skills-based therapy intervention, empirically proven to create lasting change through the learning of set coping skills paired in a safe, judgment-free environment.
It is not a process or “talk” therapy group, but rather a confidential and low-stress class, ideal for teens who need support with anxiety, mood swings, panic or social anxiety, anger problems, isolation, and unhealthy acting out behaviors in response to life stressors.
DBT skills will help your teen:
Learn or improve Emotional Regulation by understanding and managing their emotions
Improve Distress Tolerance by handling stress without making impulsive or destructive choices
Improve Interpersonal Effectiveness by communicating effectively with the adults in their lives, as well as managing relationships with their peers
Practice Mindfulness by focusing their mind and centering themselves for both a greater sense of purpose and well-being, helping them to understand their response patterns better
